Recreation for a Rainy Day...

BLOG VILLAGE Recreation Carnival Post #5 of 25... The Paper Dolls here at PJ's Paper Doll Cut Outs join me in welcoming everyone to read this entry. We hope that you enjoy yourselves!! I'll see you on your entries or blogs if you are just passing through!!!

Memories eNewsletter. Help us spread the news about paper dolls.

When outside recreation is out of the question due to the weather or because you are under the weather, cutting out paper dolls will cure the boredom! All you need is a pair of scissors and an active imagination to begin an adventure in paper doll cutting. When you have a book filled with several outfits, an imaginary story emerges that is worthy of being written down and published someday!!
So...when the next rainy day or hospital stay get in your way, bring out the paper dolls to chase away the doldrums. Keeping in mind to...

Poke holes under her arms,
And along the dotted lines,
Trimming her up to look just fine!
~
Cut above the dotted lines
On her hats for each dress,
Tilting them all at a pretty angle!
~
Cut below the dotted lines,
On her shoes and her boots,
Squeezing her feet so they won’t get tangled!
~
Fold the outfit tabs
before trying each one on,
Striking an influential affect!
~
Bend the purses
With a couple of creases,
Giving them a dimensional effect!
~
Use clear tape,
if you make a mistake,
So it won’t take away from her look.
~
Then when your through
Use school glue,
Pasting all her “art sparks”* in a scrapbook!

*art sparks are a term that my mother and have coined to define the extra illustrations added to enhance the outfits in our paper doll books for more hours of enjoyment and for "scrapbookers". For example: a book, an animal, a butterfly or a flower. Click Here to Visit BLOG VILLAGE BLOG VILLAGE Stats:

Celebrating Our Country's Independence!!!

PJ's Paper Doll would like to wish a Happy 4th of July to Everyone!!! We will be busy today getting ready for our 4th of July Celebration over at the Franklin Field Horsemen's Association stables! It looks like there will be a big turnout tonight starting with the Trail Ride @ 5:30pm. While everyone is out riding their horses, those of us who don't or can't ride will be gathering around the barbecue grills and food tables under the Ash trees. It is supposed to reach 102 degrees today which is cooler than first predicted!

Take care and have a safe 4th of July.

I will be posting pictures of the celebration over on Mustang 'n' Cowboys.

Help PJ's Promote Paper Dolls...

PJ's Corner has added this new plaque to the sidebar in an attempt to remind people to tell everyone they know about paper dolls! Not just about PJ's Paper Dolls, (although that would be nice!), but about the paper doll sites that you have found, share your paper doll memories here on PJ's PDCO's and with those around you. PJ's will be looking for paper doll blogs, websites, web rings to link to and anything that has to do with paper dolls. We will be a little picky in that the paper doll info will have to be family oriented. Sometime next year one of PJ's Paper Doll will be published in a "Doll Magazine"! We can't showcase the doll until after it is published.

Paper Dolls make wonderful gifts for anytime of the year. They are perfect for shut-ins and hospital stays. Cutting our paper dolls helps relieve tension! Do you want to get something special just because? A personalized PJ's Universal Paper Doll would fit the bill! No pun intended, of course!!

Let us know how you are "Promoting Paper Dolls!!!"

Queenie - An International Friends Paper Doll from ENGLAND

What a day for the debut of Queenie, PJ's International Friends Paper Doll from England! Queen Elizabeth II is in the US! She will be dining with the President and First Lady Bush as well as commemorate the 400th Anniversary of Jamestown, VA.

This is the first time in 16 years that the Queen has visited the United States. She will also visit Williamsburg, VA one of the towns were the American Dream was born. She will be attending the Kentucky Derby and visiting with the students and family affected by the Virginia Tech massacre.

I teared up as they played the National Anthem for England, "God Save the Queen" as the Queen descended the stairs
of the British Airways plane and stood at the end of the carpet, wearing an outfit of gray, trimmed with lavender and salmon. As always she wore an English style hat with soft gray feathers nestled against a crown of salmon.

Our paper doll, Queenie is wearing a gown of red and gold. A scepter is in Queenie's right hand and the English Rose is in her left hand. Just like Tiffany from the United States, Queenie is a pianist. Her black Steinway travels with her to all her concerts. Queenie's favorite flower is of course the English Rose and the Red Admiral is her favorite butterfly. There will be many outfits available for Queenie in PJ's Corner Gift Shoppe in the near future!

If you have been reading the comments on our other International Friends Paper Dolls, you will know that Naomi who shares English life with us on her blog "Diary From England ", has written "Answers to Some Questions" answering some of the questions we encounter with all of our International Friends Paper Dolls!

Natasha, Amber, Juanita, Su-Lang & Fawn

The paperdolls in PJ's International Friends Paper Doll set are friends from around the world. Their love of music brings them together in a medley of relationships. Each of the girls have traditional outfits that complement their wardrobes. Accompanying the girls in their travels to your place, are native instruments, butterflies and flowers!

Natasha - An International Friends Paper Doll from RUSSIA strums her Balalaika among the thistles and moorland, wiskotti, and heath butterflies.

"We are getting ready for Equine Experience and only have 4 days left before we head over to the coast! Would love to see you there if you are in Paso Robles, California next weekend!!!"

Mom and I decided to add "Toni the Little Pony" because of Equine Experience. We will need both a boy and girl horse for the kids to pick from! Each of our existing paper dolls have a western outfit, so we will take each doll and make her/him available with her/his western outfit. Along with the western paper dolls, there will be western postcards, gift cards, and our children's book, "Twiglet" the Little Christmas Tree. There are horses all through the story! We have redesigned our trademark and are in the middle of updating our catalog! Plus working on orders as they come in! We have also designed a new coloring book for Equine Experience's Kid's Day on Sunday. PJ's "Little Ones Equine Coloring Book" will be available at the show and then online after April 1st.

Re-Introducing Peppy the Little Sheppy...

Just like with "Browsey the Little Mousey", Peppy has been introduced before. It's just that this is his place in the LAPD line-up! As the eighth "Little Animal Paper Doll", Peppy is an old timey cop. Over in England the British cop was also called a "bobby". I have an inquiry in over at "Diary From England", getting the official word from Naomi on the use of the term "bobby".

UPDATE: Naomi, PJ's Official "England Correspondent" has posted The Origin of the British Bobby that validates our use of the term "Bobby" in a special way! Thank you Naomi!

Re-Introducing Browsey the Little Mousey...

We have already introduced "Browsey the Little Mousey" back in February. However, to continue with the introductions of PJ's Little Animal Paper Dolls in the order they were created, Browsey has changed into some other clothes that he keeps tied up in his hankerchiefs! This brings the total of LAPD's to seven. If you weren't reading PJ's Paper Doll Cut Outs when we introduced Browsey, he is a little hobo that loves to ride the trains, when "Neddy the Little Teddy" is not looking and play his mouth harp.
